Description

Experience a symphony of savory umami notes from the marinated soya chunks, heightened by the warmth of paprika and garlic, complemented by a gentle kick of spice from dried chilies, all encased in a perfectly crispy cornstarch coating, delivering a mouthwatering, plant-based sensation that mirrors the indulgence of traditional fried chicken.

Ingredients
  • 250 gr soya chunks (I use proteina)
  • 5 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp mushroom bouillon
  • 10 garlic (slice)
  • 10 dried chilies
  • a handful of Curry Leaves
  • Oil to fry
Instructions
  1. Begin by boiling the soya chunks until they are tender. Once boiled, drain and squeeze out any excess water. Transfer the chunks to a container.

  2. Add paprika powder, black pepper, soy sauce, garlic powder, and mushroom bouillon to the soya chunks. Stir well to ensure the chunks are thoroughly coated with the aromatic spices.

  3. Add the aromatic trio of curry leaves, dried chilies, and sliced garlic to the seasoned soya chunks.

  4. Sprinkle cornstarch over the mixture until every inch of the soya chunks is evenly coated. This step adds the perfect crunch to your vegan fried chicken.

  5. Heat oil in a pan and carefully fry the coated soya chunks until they achieve a golden brown perfection.

Note
  • Texture Matters: Squeeze out excess water from the boiled soya chunks. This step is crucial for achieving a meaty and satisfying texture in your vegan fried chicken. Properly draining the soya chunks ensures they absorb the flavorful seasonings and maintain a robust consistency during frying.
