Description

Mayak Egg, is a harmonious symphony of savory soy sauce, delicate sweetness from the sugar, subtle heat from the chili, and a burst of umami-rich flavors, culminating in an irresistibly addictive culinary experience.

Ingredients
    Boiling Eggs
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • Water
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 stalk green onion
  • 1 tbsp chili
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
  1. Begin by bringing a pot of water to a rolling boil. Add a tablespoon of vinegar to the water, which helps in easy peeling later. Gently place the eggs into the boiling water and let them cook for approximately 6 minutes for a perfectly soft-boiled consistency.

  2. Once the eggs are cooked, promptly transfer them to a bowl filled with cold water. Allowing them to cool rapidly halts the cooking process and ensures the yolks remain creamy. Let the eggs rest in the cold water for a few minutes before carefully peeling off the shells.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar, water, chopped onion, green onion, chili, minced garlic, and sesame seeds. Mix it well.

  4. Now carefully place the peeled eggs into a container or jar. Pour the prepared sauce over the eggs, ensuring they are completely submerged. Seal the container and refrigerate overnight to allow the eggs to soak up the flavorful marinade.

Note
  • Pay close attention to the boiling time of the eggs. Boiling them for precisely 6 minutes results in a creamy yolk that complements the marinade perfectly. Overcooking may lead to a dry yolk, while undercooking can result in a runny texture.
  • After boiling, immediately transfer the eggs to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. This not only prevents overcooking but also helps in easy peeling by shrinking the egg away from the shell.
