Description

Ingredients
  • 250gr chicken thighs
  • 1/2 stick carrot
  • 1/2 medium cabbage
  • 1 spring onions
  • 1/2 pack of oyster mushrooms
  • 1 cup rice cakes
  • 1 pack enoki mushrooms
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Sauce
  • 200 gr Instant buldak sauce
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • A dash of black pepper
  • 2- 3 tbsp corn syrup
  • 1 tbsp mushroom bouillon
Instructions
  1. Start by cutting the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces. Then, marinate them in a mixture of the sauce. Make sure the chicken pieces are evenly coated, and let them marinate for a while.

  2. While the chicken is soaking up all the delicious flavors, chop up the carrots, cabbage, spring onions, enoki mushroom and oyster mushrooms. Set them aside for later use.

  3. In a pan, heat a combination of vegetable oil and sesame oil. Once the oils are hot, add the marinated chicken. Cook the chicken until it's fully done, ensuring each piece is infused with the mouthwatering sauce.

  4. Toss in all the chopped vegetables into the pan. Stir everything together to create a symphony of colors and aromas. Let the vegetables cook until they are tender yet still have a delightful crunch.

  5. Now, it's time to introduce the chewy goodness of rice cakes. Add them to the pan and mix well, allowing the rice cakes to absorb the spicy goodness.

  6. Sprinkle the dish with chopped spring onions. This not only adds a burst of freshness but also a pop of color to your Dakgalbi masterpiece.

  • Adjust Spice Levels: Feel free to adjust the spice levels according to your preference. If you love the heat, skip adding the milk. If you prefer a milder flavor, reduce the amount of chili powder and buldak sauce.
  • Rice Cake Texture: Depending on your preference, you can briefly stir-fry the rice cakes for a slightly crispy texture, or simmer them a bit longer for a softer texture because I love chewier texture so I added at the end.
